Collections of Library

The Library has excellent print as well as non-print collections. The library has more than 25851 volumes of print books and over 37879 back volumes of Journals. The Library subscribes to more than 342 International and more than 78 National Print journals. Besides that there are more than 1797 E-journals and 4182 E-books subscribed by the Library. The Library also holds the theses and research works. Besides this library has an excellent non print collection in the forms of CDs, DVDs, audio and video cassettes. ARRANGEMENT OF PRINT COLLECTION

The Medical books are arranged according to the National Library of Medicine Classification (NLM) scheme and the Non-medical books are arranged as per Library of Congress Classification (LC) scheme. Backsets of Journals and Periodicals are arranged in alphabetical order of the title. The Catalogue for books and journals are available online on. Open Access systems are followed where the members are allowed to the stack area and browse. Members are requested NOT to replace the books or journals but to leave them on the tables or to the circulation counter if instructed.

CATEGORY OF BOOKS

The books in our library are categorized under 4 divisions considering need of the books by many users.

REGULAR BOOKS: These books may be borrowed for a period of two weeks and may be renewed for another two weeks if there aren’t any demand for the same book.

THREE DAYS BOOKS: These books are marked with Yellow stripes at the spine which may be borrowed only for three days and these are non-renewable.

RESERVE BOOKS: They are marked with Red Stripes on the spine of the books and will be allowed to borrow after 4pm and books must be returned before 10 am of the next working day.

REFERENCE BOOKS: These books to be used only inside the Library premises and on no condition or occasion these books will be lent out.
